On the inside you cry
on the outside, hard as steal.
Eyes calculating,
lips stern, no tenderness.
Heart shielded by fear,
soul surrounded by deceit.
The cruel, cold world engulfs,
it slithers through your emotions
making you a survivor the hard way.
But at what price to your humanness.
Will it ever be your turn again,
to feel, to touch, to kiss,
if not, at least you had a moment.
Steel can be melted,
calculations rethought,
lips can again taste sweetness.
Shields can be lowered,
deceit destroyed by trust built.
Do not give up on true passion,
never surrender to the pain in your heart.
