The chilled night air
burned my skin with a vengeance.
As you walked away,
I fought back the tears bravely,
small frozen droplets
on my cheeks formed reluctantly.
The moon slowly lowered,
as did my heart forever more.
You were my world.
Your loss chips away at my soul,
like the stone my heart is now.
A soul that hope abandoned,
whose star was extinguished.
Passion can burn out,
even if emotions linger like smoke.
You see we had our time,
too bad it wasn't an eternity.
To love at all is better
than never having a chance.
We should count our blessings,
that we found one second of passion
in a world where time was fleeting.
May you find your guiding star,
with an angel on your strong shoulders.
Then I will be at peace,
knowing you have found true happiness. . . .
