"Who Turned Out The Lights"

Updated: Dec 11, 2020

On the blackened streets

of a burned out shell known as our lives,

sits the shell of buildings,

that encased our once sought after hope.

We saw nothing more than green

as we ignored the signs of deterioration.

Now there is a world health plan

after the population died of toxic fumes.

Special interests buried more than their waste,

they sentenced us all to dark cloudy Summers,

with no hoes of getting a good tan,

which makes no difference, there are no beaches.

Stand up and be counted as one voice,

leave your misguided apathy at humanity's door,

let the light shine so we can survive.

As we enter a new existence of mankind,

we are our own saviors on earth,

we are the cavalry to the rescue of our planet.

Hopefully not to late to save burned out souls

of the less fortunate of our once charitable society.

Maybe our once optimistic eyes will open

to see the faces dying of indifference,

to hear the voices crying out for love in the night,

to feel the emotions of a forgotten world.
