Faded sunlight shines through
the withered branches of our lives,
down upon the snow covered debris
of our barren, yearning hearts.
Winter numbs our needful existence
to the point where a calm quiet
engulfs our souls.
Waiting for Spring's newness
is worth a lifetime's wait.
Sheer beauty brings tears
to the eyes of the true believers
in the existence of a higher power.
Birds awaken us in the crisp morning,
silvery stars guard over us at night.
Summer's warmth is indeed
an aphrodisiac to sun worshipers
who flaunt more than their beliefs.
Rays shine down upon golden bodies
as they become one with their faith.
Memories of the sun protect us
from a relentless cold world.
Autumn, welcome in most cases,
colors ablaze on trees soon to be bare;
rainbows light up the sky, set aflame
the countryside on life's road.
Fresh breezes of life affirming air
fill our lungs on a planet, fortunate
to still have a change of seasons.
